IMO confirms contributing cargo received in 2019 by the 5 Contracting States to the 2010 HNS Protocol

The Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has published a Circular confirming, in accordance with Article 28(2)(a)(ii) of the 2010 HNS Protocol, that he has received the reports on contributing cargo for 2019 from the five Contracting States to the Protocol.
It is reported that, between them, Canada, Denmark, Norway, South Africa and Turkey, received a total quantity of 15 320 970 tonnes of cargo contributing to the general account in 2019. Among the conditions for the entry into force of the 2010 HNS Convention, is the requirement for the volume of contributing cargo to the general account to exceed 40 million tonnes.
